Mni Wiconi - School of the Waters Nth Dakota
In 2016, Native Americans gathered at Standing Rock in North Dakota to protest against the desecration of tribal lands with the building of the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline. The protest camp swelled to over 10,000 inhabitants, Native Americans and many others from around the USA and the World. As many of the participants (water protectors) had children with them, the provision of a school at the camp very quickly became a necessity.
New Beginnings International proudly contributed the sum of $1,500.00 to assist with the set-up of the school, and the provision of necessary materials (books, writing material, learning aids, etc.).
